I was going to leave tomorrow morning for Ohio but if the weather forecast is true, I will be rained in for a couple days. I plan to play by ear but most of Washington is predicted to get rain. Normally I would just take off anyway but I want to see the lava dome of Mt. St. Helen and I am not crazy about doing it in the rain. After this weather comes through, it looks like it will be cool but quite nice for a while heading south.
My plan (This minute) is to head south to Mt. St. Helen like I said. Then continue south to Death Valley. I want to go through and see it when it is cooler and I can get off my bike and not fry. I will probably sleep overnight there.
From Death Valley I plan to head West to Albuquerque and visit an old friend. If time permits, I want to see White Sands, and somehow fit in Arches Natl. park in Utah. After that I plan to just "beatfeet" home and become an adult again. I will drop my bike off in Ohio and take a 4 wheeled vehicle, (how boring) to Atlanta and take care of my home and hopefully help get it sold. Depending on time, I might visit some family in Florida and/or Missouri before the holidays.
Like I said earlier. That is my thought, "this minute" If weather is just gray, I will head out Thursday. If it is still raining, then it will be Friday.
I worked on my bike last night and changed the oil. I was going to have the shop do it but I forgot to ask and I felt silly asking them since they were nice enough to fit me in from my breakdown. Changing oil isn't a hard thing to do really. Just messy. It's good that I did it. I saved one nights motel stay by doing it.
It looks like my tunes for this trip are in serious danger now. Ever since Michigan, my IPOD has been locking up from time to time. With persistence, I have been able to reboot the device but now it doesn't seem to want to work at all.
I HAVE TO HAVE MY TUNES AND AUDIO BOOKS. Currently I am listening to "Salty Piece of Land" by Jimmy Buffett. I am three quarters through the book and have to find out how it ends.
I've actually listened to mostly audiobooks and football games on the road with the occasional Eagles album and other various road tunes. I have to listen to the song "Take it Easy" by the Eagles on the road. You know I am going to stop by Winslow, Arizona on the way back guys. Listen to the song, if you don't get it. I will blog a pic for sure.
If I can't get my Ipod fixed tomorrow, I will probably spring for a new one. I have many tunes and audiobooks backed up on my laptop luckily.
I'm really getting cabin fever here and itching to go. Once I do, this blogs will get much more interesting with many more pictures.
